François Camus

[ Biography ]

After studying Drama at the Chaillot Theater in Paris as well as Uta Hagen’s Acting school in New York, Francois Camus starts his directing career in Germany.

At the Deutsches Theater Berlin, The Berliner Volksbühne and Altes Schauspielhaus Stuttgart, he trained with directors such as Herbert Fritsch,

Ulf Dietrich, Dimiter Gotscheff and Manfred Langner.

 

In 2012 he celebrated his directorial debut with Amélie Nothomb’s ‘Antéchrista’ which he adapted for the Schauspielbühnen Stuttgart.

Several productions followed, including Ron Hutchinson’s ‘Moonlight and Magnolias’ , nominated in 2015 for the Monica Bleibtreu award.

 

François Camus directed for Altes Schauspielhaus Stuttgart "Fracked! Or: Please don't use the F-Word" by political satirist author, Alistair Beaton. Which was awarded for the best play of the year "Schauspielbühnen Stuttgart".

 

In 2021, won François Camus, the Luxemburg's National Theater Price for "La Peste"
